I have worked with Jim Axe, the owner of Road Warrior Plus, on it's development since 2008. Too many of my customers struggled with handling their freshly painted parts, and shipping materials and methods can be hit and miss. I saw a real need for a product that would protect paint - that was inexpensive, user-friendly and temporary. After spending thousands on a custom paint job, what is it worth to the customer to have a product which will allow them to handle their parts without fear of scratching them, while they re-assemble their bike? I use a roller to apply RWP to tanks and fenders. After it cures I am able to handle the parts with ease. I could scrub on the surface with a scotch brite pad and not leave a mark (I do in the video). This makes packaging and assembly much easier. And I can do this using about $5 worth of material and 30 minutes of labor for a typical (3 piece) bike. Cleanup is simple, rinse the roller in water and you're done. Once assembly is complete you spray some cold water on the coating with a spray bottle, pick up a corner and pull the coating off. The crew at Orange County Choppers have thoroughly tested RWP and are now using it on all the bikes they build, applying it immediately after polishing. RWP will be featured in the painting segment of one or more upcoming episodes. Tom
Joyce, OCC Service Manager says "every bike created by OCC, will
be protected with Road Warrior Plus paint protection during assembly,
all the way to the dealer". Other uses for Road Warrior Plus Though the idea was originally envisioned to solve problems related to painting, other uses quickly became apparent. Vinyl bra's eventually scratch up a painted surface, and clear bra's are permanent, not to mention costly. For years my wife and I rode to Sturgis every year from Seattle, 1200 miles in 2 days. When we'd get there the bikes were always covered with baked on bugs and road grime. This year I'll roll some RWP on the fairing and leading edges of the front fender and hard bags (I ride a bagger - custom painted of course!), and when we arrive I'll simply spray it with some cold water and pull it off. A pretty cool trick for about $2.50!

Road Warrior Plus was used at this years Daytona 200 and the teams loved it. You can't tell it's on the bikes or helmets, all the sponsor logos are still clearly visible. At the end of the race it is easily removed for a quick cleanup before photos. |
Motorcycle
mechanics have been impressed with RWP as a simple way to protect bikes
while wrenching in close quarters.
